Project Overview
Al Shamsh delivered a public-safety infrastructure programme on a major arterial highway in Basra Governorate. The scope combines architecturally finished elevated pedestrian footbridges — clad in decorative mashrabiya-style perforated steel — with continuous W-beam safety barriers along the highway median, new pedestrian sidewalks and integrated street lighting.
The works were executed end-to-end by Al Shamsh crews and equipment: concrete-clad tubular steel piers, prefabricated staircase-and-platform assemblies, and crane-lifted deck spans seated over live traffic. Structured traffic management, flag crews and night-work shifts kept disruption to road users to a minimum.
Scope of Work
- Site survey, setting-out and alignment verification for pier locations and deck spans
- Fabrication and erection of twin-column, concrete-clad tubular steel bridge piers
- Prefabricated staircase and landing-platform assemblies, lifted in by mobile crane
- Deck-span fabrication with CNC-perforated mashrabiya-style steel cladding
- Crane lifting and precise portal seating of deck spans over the live highway
- Supply and installation of galvanised W-beam guardrail along the median and bridge approaches
- Concrete plinths, kerbstones and interlock-paved pedestrian sidewalks
- Supply and connection of decorative traditional-motif street-lighting columns
- Traffic management: flagmen, cones, bilingual caution boards and staged lane closures
- Handover, snagging and municipal acceptance
